Boko Haram also debunked insinuations that the girls may have been sexually abused and warned the girls never to return to school
“Dapchi resident told me Boko Haram preached to them this morning, saying three things – that the girls are not to go back to school, that they didnt receive money from Gov and that the did not sexually assault the children, Hegarty tweeted.
AWUJALE CHANGES THE RULE; NO MORE SECRET CULT BURIAL FOR OBAS | ASKS PEOPLE TO FLOG OSUGBO
The Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland Oba Dr. Sikiru Kayode Adetona who also doubles as the President of the Ijebu Traditional Council may have set to clash with traditional worshipers otherwise called 'Osugbo' over burial rites for any traditional rulers that passes on.
According to Platform Times, Awujale who said there is no custom or tradition in Ijebuland that supports such practice, described the actions of such people as abomination.
He however, referred to the Osugbos as balifs , explaining that Osugbo is just an association, not a chieftancy title or any cult to fear or revere.
Oba Adetona stated this while addressing some Christians and Muslim faithful who converged on his palace to kick start the annual weeklong prayer for him and the Ijebuland.
Platform Times gathered that the paramount had some years ago abolished the practice whereby the demised king were buried by some secret cult members who are often referred to as the Osugbos.
It was further gathered that, since the abolishment , few Obas who joined their ancestors had been buried according to their faiths.
However, the monarch while speaking against the backdrop of a recent development which made the Ijebu Traditional Council to renew its earlier stand on the issue disclosed that a 24-man committee would soon be inaugurated from the six local government areas of Ijebuland.
According to him, the move is to ensure that any king that joined his ancestors are given befitting burial according to the faith of such monach he practised while alive.
The Monarch said the resolution was made at the meeting held on the 28th of December,2016 to form a committee of four people, two each from the Christian and Islamic religions in the six local government of Ijebuland.
The committee was to meet with the members of Osugbo cult who they alleged were hijacking corpses of demised King, collect and dispossess the family of some possession on the pretence that they want to bury the monach according to what the tradition demands.
The Monarch said...
"They are not authorized to bury any king that joined his ancestors or perform any rituals on the body."
"Osugbos, according to our culture here are like balifs under our culture, if there is any fight in those days especially concerning land boundaries or farm boundaries, they are the ones that the king will send to restore normalcy there and bring report back to the king." Oba Adetona submitted.
Awujale further lamented that the members of osugbos whom he said have constituted themselves to something else now , were also the executioner who carries out death penalty on any convicted criminals in those days.
"Now they do what they want, why, because we give them the right to do such , when they arrive at the burial programme of any Oba and everybody runs away".
"No, this is nonsense which must stop ,henceforth, because they are mere messengers", the Oba said.
He advised the people not to run away again but pick up their cane and send them away.
Awujale added that henceforth any culture that is not in vogue and not in tandem with the modern day reality would be jettisoned and thrown away.
The Ijebu paramount ruler however noted that the way other Yoruba people buried their kings has nothing to do with the Ijebu tradition and this is what the Ijebu Traditional Council has now unanimously agreed upon.
Gbengande of Ososa, Oba Adetoye Alatishe and other members of the Ijebu Traditional Council said they all aligned with the decision of Awujale, describing it as a welcome development.

The Borno State government yesterday prosecuted Ngozi Nwokocha and three other female suspects for alleged child trafficking at the state’s High Court No. 13, in Maiduguri.
The offences, according to the court registrar, Bilyaminu Hassan, were allegedly committed at the Government Reservation Area (GRA) and Galadima areas of Maiduguri metropolis on January 15, 2016, August 20, 2016 and August 30, 2016.
Hassan said that Kaltime Mohammed, Aisha Bukar and Zara Haruna allegedly sold baby boys and girls to Ngozi Nwokocha at the price of N100,000 each. He said the offence is contrary to 1994 Borno State Law of section 278 and 279 and punishable under the penal code.
“The main suspect, Nwokocha and three female suspects committed an immoral offence and were brought before Justice Fadawu Umaru for exchanging newly born babies at the price of N100,000 each on various dates in Maiduguri,” said Hassan.
The four suspects, however, denied committing the act. Consequently, the prosecuting lawyer, who doubles as the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Kaka Shehu Lawan, said considering the gravity of the alleged offences, he asked that the case be adjourned to enable him present nine witnesses before the court.
Justice Umaru granted the request and adjourned the case to next week Monday, January 9, 2017 for further hearing.

Tragedy struck in Idumuje Ugboko a town in Aniocha North L.G.A delta state which threw the whole town into mourning .
In the early hours of 25th December 2016, some hoodlums attacked the family of Mrs Comfort Ogor Ubani and her four grand children in which they were burnt to death.
It was learnt that the attackers first of all raped the grand daughter before gathering them in the parlour then poured petrol on them and set them on fire. one of the children who tried to escape was killed by those outside and was set ablaze.
Mr. Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim, Delta State Commissioner of Police who visited the scene of the crime openly wept after seeing a grand mother of about 80 years and her four grand children roasted like a yam.
The Commissioner of Police is also asking how on earth can people be this wicked? He promised to make sure that the perpetrators of such evil act will be brought to book.
A 72-year-old man arrested in Iwo, Osun state for removing a human skull from a cemetery says he made a mistake.
Idris Ajao claimed to be a bricklayer, but said a herbalist Tajudeen Jawesola had assigned him to exhume skulls from graves in the cemetery in return for N10,000.
Police, acting on a tipoff, deployed around the cemetery and arrested him with a skull.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Fimihan Adeoye said police detectives got the hint about the atrocities of Ajao and trailed him until he was caught with the skull.
Ajao told Daily Trust, “Mistake has no master.”
“It was Jawesola that asked me to get the human skull for him. Everybody knows Jawesola to be herbalist and he wanted to use the human skull to do his work. He said he would give me N10, 000. I should not have listened to him. It is a mistake”.
The police authorities in Abuja have foiled suspected attempts by a notorious militant group, operating from the creeks of Ikorodu and Arepo areas of Lagos and Ogun States, to bomb the Third Mainland Bridge, the longest bridge in West Africa.
AyiekotoOgun gathered yesterday that a top commander of the group, Abiodun Amos, who is also known as Senti, an Ijaw native of Arugbo, from Ese-Odo Local Council of Ondo State, was arrested by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
The suspect, who was also said to be the group’s chief expert in explosives, was trailed to a riverbank at the Majidu area of Ikorodu, Lagos.Sources disclosed that two AK47 rifles, hidden in a ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag, were found in his possession at the time of his arrest, while he led the IRT operatives to a vehicle parked discreetly within Ikorodu, where a large cache of dynamite and detonators were recovered from its boot.
The intelligence, which was generated by the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), was passed on to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, indicating that the group was at its final stage of carrying out an attack on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The IGP, who was said to be dazed by the report, swiftly directed his operatives at the IRT, led by Abba Kyari, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), to commence a full-scale investigation and it was discovered afterwards that the group was actually planning to blow up the bridge at the end of November 2016.
Further investigation revealed that the group had acquired large quantities of dynamite and several other explosives, which would be used for the attack.
Meanwhile, in October 2016, the group, which has no known identity and was notorious for pipeline vandalism, kidnapping and bank robberies, had demanded amnesty, threatening to disrupt economic activities within Lagos and Ogun States if the Federal Government does not dialogue with them and grant them pipeline protection contracts.
The leader of the militant group, known as General Ossy Ibori, who had in recent time coordinated most of the bank robberies and several high-profile kidnappings, including those of three school girls, at Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary School in Ikorodu, four landlords at Isheri North Area of Lagos, Oniba of Ibaland, Oba Goriola Oseni, and several others, within the Lagos and Ogun states axis, boasted that his group has over 21 generals commanding 7,800 battle-ready boys.
When newsmen interviewed the 43-year-old suspect, he confessed that his militant group was formerly into pipeline vandalism but they resorted into kidnapping when it became difficult for them to vandalize and sell their stolen petroleum products.
According to him: “We went into bank robberies and kidnapping because we wanted to get government attention and all we wanted was for them to grant us amnesty and also offer us pipeline protection contract. We have made several appeals and the government is not listening to us.
“General Ossy said if we don’t blow up the Third Mainland Bridge, government would not listen to us. We had concluded plans and we decided to carry out the attack in November ending. I am the group’s explosive expert and before I was arrested we were going into the creek to conclude plans on how to carry out the attack,” he said.
The veil has been partially lifted off the mysterious white man captured by Nigerian soldiers during last week’s storming of Boko Haram’s headquarters in the Sambisa Forest.
According to reporters, the mysterious white man is a Frenchman and he specializes in repairing and unlocking armoured personnel vehicles and other fighting equipment
Reporters says they learnt this from authoritative military sources yesterday. The white man’s identity is being concealed by the Federal Government and military authorities for diplomatic reasons, the sources also said. Defence Headquarters has been silent on the development since the news broke last Friday, shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari announced that Boko Haram’s last stronghold in the Sambisa forest, Borno State had been overrun by troops.
Soldiers who took part in the operation told us yesterday that a white man was actually arrested in the Sambisa forest and that he has been providing “credible information” to military authorities. A source said,
“He was arrested along the Bama axis of the Sambisa forest and agreed to give vital information provided he would be spared. I learnt that he is from France but authorities do not want to make his real identity known for diplomatic reasons…They don’t want to jeopardize the success recorded.” Although some sources only said the captured white man is “from Western Europe,” we learnt that he is actually a Frenchman. All Nigeria’s neighbours in the North East, namely Cameroon, Niger Republic and Chad are French speaking.
The French embassy in Nigeria did not respond to email and text message sent to it for comment yesterday, DT added.
“This is a warning to everyone and It’s also a step in the path to justice. Tonight at about 11:30pm, i and my team were headed for an event i was invited to on the island. we were all leaving from my sisters place which is at new oko oba. We had not gotten past one street after my sisters when our ride was blocked by a blue toyota big daddy with registeration number smk 517 bm. Out came 4 men carrying rifles branded with the nigerian police flag. They were all in civilian clothes, although their black polo tops had SARS printed on it. They weren’t wearing name tags too. Unidentifiable and maybe even untraceable, these men said we should get into their car without reason. When we resisted they started hitting us and that was when things became ugly. They used leg cuffs to hit us injuring my brother on the head, fired shots in the air as we struggled with them trying to scare people who were coming close to the scene to intervene. They also took a phone, jewelry (neck pieces and a wristwatch) from us then got into their car not returning any of the items they had taken initially. The problem with this incident is that these men, with the assurance that nothing will happen could have easily shot us dead or maimed us. I am employing people in authority to look into this division of the NPF. They can’t continue to treat people like animals. Unfortunatley we couldn’t take pictures or videos because they grabbed the first phone we pulled out to record the whole thing. All we have is a picture of my brother’s head injury and the plate number of the car they drove.”

Ms Olunloyo, in her investigation into the alleged phone theft, revealed that Mr Egbegbe left his house with the intention of using charm on phone retailers at the popular Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos.
She said however, during the process, he was caught and could have been killed if not for the intervention of some policemen from Area F Command, who whisked him away to their custody.
It was alleged that the filmmaker stole about nine iPhones from a store at Computer Village. He was beaten by a mob when an alarm was raised.

A Lagos State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ikeja, yesterday, remanded in Kirikiri Prison, Seun Egbegbe, former boyfriend to actress and social media celebrity, Toyin Aimakhu, for alleged theft of 10 pieces of iPhones.
Seun was arraigned before Magistrate Y. O. Aje-Afunwa, on one count charge of theft slammed against him by the police. Seun, who pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him, was alleged to have committed the offence at the Computer Village, Ikeja, where he requested for the phones.
The police prosecution told the court that the incident occurred while the sales girl was trying to calculate the items Seun requested for, but that he allegedly ran out of the shop with the phones and tried to board a waiting vehicle.
The sales girl allegedly raised the alarm, which attracted other traders in the market. He was eventually caught and beaten to a pulp before the police intervened and rescued him.
The presiding magistrate, Aje-Afunwa, granted him N1 million bail and two sureties in like sum. He was ordered to be remanded in Kirikiri pending when he would fulfill his bail conditions.
A mild drama, however, played out outside the court as Seun’s supporters threatened to beat up journalists if they took the accused pictures. It took the intervention of police and court orderlies, who sent the rowdy mob out of the court premises, to save the situation.
While journalists waited to take Seun’s picture, his family members colluded with prison warders to sneak him out of the court premises through the back door into a waiting prison vehicle.
Mr Dan Bature, an Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police in Charge of Zone 11 comprising Oyo, Osun and Ondo states, says any policeman checking vehicle particulars on the highways is on illegal duty. Bature said this in Ibadan during a two-day familiarisation visit to Oyo State.
He said that the duty of the police was not to check vehicle particulars but to ensure safer roads. Bature warned policemen against blocking high ways, saying police patrol vehicles were not supposed to be toll gates.
He said the Inspector General of Police (IGP) was committed to changing the negative image of the police and supporting the anticorruption war of the Federal Government. Bature advised officers unable to key into the laudable initiatives of the IGP to resign from the force. He said that a lot was expected by the public from the police, adding that this informed the monitoring of officers. “The Inspector General of Police is determined to improve on your welfare and pursue the increment of your salary. “But this can only be achieved when the people have good perception about the police, “Bature said. Earlier, Sam Adegbuyi, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, said that the officers were dedicated and patriotic. Adegbuyi said that in view of the population of Oyo State, the command needed to create three more Area Commands in addition to the existing four commands. He commended the AIG, Oyo government and the Police Community Relation Committee for the successes recorded so far in the fight against crime.
Mr John Edobor, who was recently fired from his Zenith bank job over allegations of domestic violence, has opened up on his own side of the story after his estranged wife, Ivie, accused him of battering her for failing to give him male children. Scroll down to read his story.
The killer and the cheat…the true Story of Ivie Edobor
Ivie Angela Edobor who lives in Number 43, Aderibigbe Street, Masha Kilo, Surulere, Lagos, got married at Saint Dominics Catholic Church, 356, Herbert Macaulay Street, Yaba, Lagos on Saturday, 30th June, 2007 at 12:00noon. We did the traditional marriage ceremony at the father’s compound at No. 2, Sola Oluwole Close, Abisogun Estate, Alafia Sari-Iganmu, off Lagos Badagry Expressway on a Thursday, 28th June, 2007. And as well as the marriage Registry in Lagos at Ikoyi on the 17th January, 2007 (all the marriage documents are attached).
Ivie and I are blessed with three children (three girls – senior 9 years old; second – 7 years and 4 years old respectively). Ivie and I had lived together all these years in peace devoid of rancour and acrimony together and love.
Ivie Edobor once worked for Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc until she resigned her appointment on the 11th July, 2011 in view of the fact that she was been accused of collecting kickbacks from the bank’s contractors in order for her to perform her duties as administrative staff. She exhibited these traits of fraud, corrupt practices and financial misappropriation which led to her termination and dismissal from Airtel and Starcomms .
When Ivie resigned (find attached her resignation letter) in order for her not to be at home doing nothing, we both had a discussion on her nest line of what she could do and then she suggested that she wanted to start importing diapers from the United Kingdom (UK) and start distributing and selling in retail which I obliged her by giving her initial start-up capital of about N500, 000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) and as the year progresses, we noticed that the business was moving I had to borrow moneys from friends and with my personal savings to inject into the business which amounted to about N8million (Eight Million Naira Only).
Every year, it was our agreement that audit be done to ensure that, the business is actually doing well and to make sure tax is paid to Government as well. This was actually adhered to in 2012 and in 2013, I noticed that Ivie had refused to call the accountant to come audit her books. I kept insisting on the audit to be done since she knows the accountant and have his contacts and moreover where we were staying in Ajah at No 76, House 3, Street X, Abraham Adesanya Estate, Ajah, Lagos, was not far from where the accountant was actually living in Ajah.
This persisted until in September 17th 2014 when strange faces of people I had never met or spoken with before kept coming to knock at my gate as early as 5a.m. every morning to demand for their moneys from Ivie and when the amount was added together that came knocking and requesting for their moneys it came to about N25,204,250 (Twenty Five Million, Two Hundred and Four Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty Naira Only). Please see attached the list of people she was owing and these people are available if you which to speak with them.Despite all these borrowings, Ivie could not account for what the sum of N25, 204,250 was spent on and till date she has not being able to explain in clear terms what the money was used for. She could not explain to me or her family members how she spent such huge sum of money. It became clear of recent after two years that she actually borrowed these moneys to save face from shame since Mr. Matthew Agbaire who she was dating was threatening to blackmail her if she could not part with money anytime Matthew Agbaire requested for any sum to use for himself.
In November 24th, 2015, Ivie was pregnant for me with twins which she confirmed severally in our chat (see attached for your perusal and confirmation the Ultra Sound Scan Report for the LMP and EDD) and the pregnancy grow for 5 (five) months and the babies had become 5(five) months old in June.
Since Ivie was living in Surulere despite my several plead to the father to allow Ivie and the children to come join me in Yaba notwithstanding that Ivie and I looked for the apartment in Yaba for us to live as one family again, Ivie deceded to stay back in surulere and every Fridays she would come to sleep with me while on weekdays she kept sleeping with Matthew Agbaire who is married with his own kids.
Until May 2016, when my kids where on midterm break, and they came to spend the holiday with me in Yaba that two of my children told me that, every night, one uncle Matthew was always coming to the house to sleep in mummy’s room till the next day and he will buy them suya. And when I asked Ivie she initially denied until I showed her a video clip of what the children told me that she then admitted (see attached our chat for your perusal) and at this time Ivie was still pregnant.
Since Ivie knew the consequences of her action she begged and pleaded that, she would need to go for confession which she did in June 5th, 2016 at Saint Dominic Catholic Church, Yaba. There she promised the reverend father Felix never to go back to such life again. Two days later I received a phone call from the house help that, Matthew came again to take her out and did not return until late in the night. When I asked Ivie she denied and she beat up the house help as well as collected her phone from her.
At this time Ivie had threatened she was going to flush the babies since I am doubting the paternity of the twin. Because, I asked Ivie if you are pregnant for me and still kept sleeping with another man (Matthew Agbaire) so who own the babies? We would need to do a DNA test to actually know who their father is.
Three days later, Ivie and Matthew Agbaire went to abort the babies since she was worried that I kept insisting on the DNA of the children. When I asked ivie what happened to the babies she said she could not face the shame of having bastard children which am not ready to father and this kept me worried up till now since Ivie could kill children that were already formed (7months) babies.I spoke with the father who lives in Orile, in Lagos and even went to see him about it and all I got from the father was he will talk to Ivie and two of her aunties and I tried calling her mother who lives in UK but she would not pick her calls and as well told my family members about it too.
On what happened in June 19th 2016, incident that got ivie admitted at Tokin Hospital for broken leg, contrary to claims by Ivie, she actually got injured during a scuffle between myself and Matthew Agbaire who brought out a hammer his tool box in his car to fight me when Ivie at sighting me started shouting ole, ole for the security men to come and kill when Matthew brought her back home past one (1:00a.m.) in the morning while the children were left at home with a girl of about 13years old to care for them while Ivie and Matthew went to a hotel to have sex. Ivie in an attempt to allow Matthew to run away was holding on to my hands backward and in the course of my struggle, Ivie and I fell to the ground and then, Matthew wanted to seize the opportunity to slam the hammer in his hand on me which I dodged and then I noticed he was not relenting the second time after first strike which actually hit ivie, and then she shouted, when saw him trying to raise his hand again, I had to row over ivie and stood on my feet before the security men came to rescue the situation. Matthew quickly rushed her to a hospital in Surulere perhaps the same hospital the twin was aborted by Ivie and Matthew.
Ivie has consistently told people that I have not been taking care of the children school fees (find attached the receipts of my children school fees till date for your perusal). She has push out false information to the public for her to continuously gain sympathy from the public, press, bloggers, the civil society and human rights activist.
It will shock you to know that Ivie was married to one Mr. Benedith Jatto on the 17th December 2002 a document she used in her NYSC and equally in her former place of employment while she was working with Airtel Nigeria. I got to know and see all of these when this issue came up and a copy of the document is available for your perusal. And up till date that married has not been dissolved which means ivie is legally married to two men.
Ivie is doing all these for her to hide her shame and the face of Matthew Agbaire a father of two who is still married to his wife, and work in Centrix Allied Limited who is the brain behand her termination of the twin and the her broken leg. It is unfortunate that Ivie is acting this way because as my wife and mother of my beautiful children this is not the way I planned for us.
As a responsible father I have consistently played my role and provided for them to the best of my ability all that they needed.
So please tell me how I went wrong…. You can imagine my shock to find out that I am her 2nd husband…was it wrong of me to have encouraged and empowered my wife? Please tell me which man will take it…she only shouted out so the issue of the children she killed will not come limelight.
OGHA in chaos as Deputy Speaker and Commissioner for Works exchange harsh words as assembly suspends commissioner for works, directs him to hand over to the Permanent Secretary
There was a serious commotion in the Ogun State House of Assembly today after the Ogun State commissioner for works Arc Lekan Adegbite insulted the whole member of the OGHA.
The drama started when the assembly members concluded the valedictory service for one of its former members and returned to address the commissioner for works who had earlier been summoned.
The commissioner demanded for an apology from the whole house for keeping him waiting for 45 minutes before answering any of their questions.
This got all the members angry as members take their turn to remind the commissioner of how he had disrespected them during the house oversight function to his ministry and on other official and personal visits.
The speaker also tried to make the commissioner realise that they were at the valedictory service of one of their late colleague.
All these explanation didn't go down well with the commissioner who insisted on the apology. He was about walking out on the assembly members when the deputy speaker challenged him not to do so. The commissioner brushed aside the deputy speaker who in turn stood his ground firmly.
It took the intervention of other members to stop both of them from going physical and throwing punches.
This got the commissioner very angry and furious. He called the assembly members bunch of fools and other unprintable names before storming out of the assembly complex.
Meanwhile, the house has passed a resolution suspending the commissioner for works and directed him to hand over to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.
The effort of the SSG to intervene met stiff resistance from the assembly members.
Part of the reason why the commissioner was invited was for him to explain the rational behind the construction of a N60bn 10 lane road from Government house to Interchange when there are so many abandoned projects.
The house also want an explanation on why no rural road has been constructed when funds had already been approved.
The house has directed the state government to immediately suspend the construction of the N60bn 10 lane road and focus on the completion of other abandoned roads and rural roads.
House of Assembly just moved a motion passing vote of no confidence on the Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, Arch Olamilekan Adegbite for misconduct. The Gov has been advised to suspend him immediately. Details later................
