History was made in the APC Sagamu LG yesterday. What a joyous and memorable day! it was a celebration galore as party leaders, members, admirers, colleagues, family, co-aspirants under the platform of APC Ogun East trooped out in their thousands to support a proactive, dogged, articulate and vibrant Majority leader of Ogun State House of Assembly and as leading Aspirant for Remo Federal Constituency, Hon. Asiwaju Yinka Mafe, as he declared his intention to contest for House of representatives.

Performing his obligation, the Ogun East party Chairman, Alhaji Yakubu Declared the occasion opened.

Notable Leaders and aspirants were present at the occasion; Baba Dugbe, Alhaji Tolu Dawodu (represented by Hon Isiaka Salami), Baba Aladeyelu, Leader Layiga, Alhaja Morili Balogun (Iya teko) a SA to the governor on general duties, Hon Segun Solarin aka Rolling (SLG APC Chairman), Seasan Jekami, Hon Kehinde Oseni, Hon Samuel Olusegun Solarin (SOS), Hon Sesan Asenuga, Hon Adejuwon aka ACAD, Hon Elegbeji, Hon Kamal Sonowo, Hon Adeyinka Adeniran (Sapele), Otunba Dewunmi Onanuga (Ijaya), Hon Oluwole Folarin, Hon Femi Akinwunmi, Hon Babangida etc.

Prior to his presentation, the crowd were "Chanting MafeLafeLabuja2019" after which Asiwaju Yinka Mafe openly declared that he has resolved to serve his people and nothing will derail his service to the masses. He reminded them of some of his project and achievements; Creation of Jobs for Youths, Soft Loan to Women, Community Health Centre, Free ICT Training Centre, Ultra-Modern Town Hall, Blocks of Classrooms, Free High Surgery, Free Tutorials, Free School Bus/ Shuttle, Empowerment Programmes, Training Traditional Birth Attendants, Football Tournaments.

He further called the attention of people to the ongoing project of his tagged "WATER FOR ALL IN REMO". He said he intend to construct water supply in all the 35wards in Remoland where water is a problem. According to him "we've built and commissioned that of Aiyegbami, Ishara and Ikenne are under construction and would be commissioned soon". He also promised to touch all Remo Communities

AYM's speech was accompanied by interludes from the popular Ekute musician, Alayuba band (Mr Gaddo) and beautiful bizarre dancing steps. According to the dignitaries present, some of which were on the stage with him said that if AYM is supported to the office, we will not regret it and he (AYM) will not disappoint us. He is a good son that worth our support, he handed over the letter of declaration of intent to the leaders and it was read to the members hearings.

However, it should be noted that AYM due to his love for service to the people had been in the race since 1997, when he was first elected as a counsellor, his loyalty to the governor and progressive ideology makes him relevant till today.

AYM said, As a proactive Leader, all members can attest to the fact that in all situations, he always says remained very active and prompt in honouring his subscriptions and attending and participating in meetings and events of our great party"

During an interview with speakers at the occasion, they all reassured him of their believe in his ability to represent them at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly. He was urged not to allow detractors who have nothing to offer their community to detract him from doing what he believed in.

In conclusion, AYM had served and garnered experience required for the task ahead, he's very much ready and prepared. AYM is a two terms Ogun State house of assembly member, and presently the majority leader of the house, due to the service delivery and efficiency, he would lead us aright.

Thankfully, AYM said that through the will, grace and supremacy of the Almighty and the support he received from everyone, he was not only been honourably vindicated from all those baseless allegations and negative attributes ascribed to him in the past, he has equally enjoyed satisfactory relationships, official as well as personal.

The Party Leaders took turns to pray for AYM individually as the acknowleldged the fact truly its the turn of Offin in Sagamu and if APC wants to win a strong candidate like AYM is the answer.

He further assured his supporters not to be perturbed by the activities of the detractors, in and outside the party who only believe in buying of votes and spreading a false information about my person. He said they are already drowning and looking for who to drag along but I remain gallant, resolute and committed. By God grace, we shall triumph. Good evening All. Thank you for your various comments regarding the donation to RSS. To provide perspective and clarity let me explain.The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Ogun State has oversight responsibility on the school infrastructure and community.

This government is certainly not averse to support and collaboration and His Excellency always mentions this whenever he speaks particularly on education.Order is however the first principle for foundational and sustainable success so we do have rules of engagement.Order is however the first principle for foundational and sustainable success so we do have rules of engagement.Typically, a donor writes in to the school and / or the Zonal Education Office communicating it's interest to support the school. The Ministry is approached by the office of the ZEO (and / or on occasion by the donor) and following an assessment of the proposed intervention vs  the existing infrastructure of the school, determines the best option for all concerned.This may include a meeting with the donor and have variously resulted in project redesign, increase / reduction or redirection of donor funds and on occasion joint support both financial and otherwise.Once goal congruence is established, the Ministry formalises approval with a letter that will often also stipulate safety measures, timelines, etcThe Ministry also 'supervises' the project and welcomes the opportunity of attending the commissioning if invited. In any event the Ministry also documents the State Governments appreciation for all such interventions.In the RSS scenario unfortunately there was no communication to or with the Ministry before an invitation to Commission the project.The year group that offered the donation in their enthusiasm also took a decision to build an exclusive mini Hall for their meetings and activities all without the requisite approvals and planning clearance.Unfortunately the timeframe to complete these processes did not permit completion of all that was required hence the commissioning could not proceed.

The Year group was thus advised (and did agree) to hold their event in the existing Hall.It was entirely their decision to hold their festivities in am alternate venue and the option for a formal Commissioning at a later date when all processes are concluded was made and remains open to the Year GroupThe issues around an exclusive mini Hall could pretend chaos particularly if every year group decided to put up an exclusive structure. Amosun Elevates Visually Impaired Director to Permanent Secretary

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has sworn-in physically impaired Mr. Akinyemi Andrew Elijah, as Permanent Secretary (PS), in the State's Civil Service, attributing his appointment to his dedication, diligence and passion, in the discharge of his duties.

The governor, at the ceremony, held at the Executive Council chamber, in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office yesterday, said "we have considered you among those who have diligently served the state and that is why we are honouring you with this.

"In Ogun State, it does not matter if you are physically challenged or not, what matters is dedication, diligence and selfless service to the state", he added.

Amosun reiterated the determination of his administration towards the welfare of civil servants, stating that while payment of salary of workers and pension of retirees are regular, his administration will not owe any salary deduction before handing over next year.

"We are mindful that deduction is part of the salary, I will not owe anyone any deduction. I will offset all before we handover and leave office", Amosun assured, disclosing that his government would create sinking fund to make the payment of gratuities seamless and affordable.

Akinyemi, who was director of Special Needs Education in the State's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, after taking the oaths of allegiance, office and secrecy, pledged to effectively contribute his quota to the service of the state.

Head of Service, Mr. Abayomi Sobande, while speaking to news men, appreciated the governor for noticing and honouring the hard work of Akinyemi and also fanning the hopes of selfless and diligent civil servants.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said the Buhari Administration will not be distracted by frivolous allegations from any quarter, especially those cleverly choreographed to divert attention from a widely-acclaimed presidential proclamation and to shore up support for a waning and egotistical cause.


In a statement issued in Lagos on Friday, the Minister said the administration is too busy trying to clear the mess of 16 years and build on its unprecedented achievements over the past three years to waste its energy and time on framing up anyone or dwelling on issues that are not grounded in fact.

He said while those who have skeletons in their wardrobes should be afraid, even of their own shadows, innocent persons need not worry about any investigation, whether real or imagined.

”This administration will never engage in a frame-up of innocent citizens. That is neither in the character of President Muhammadu Buhari nor in that of his administration. Only the guilty should be worried. To paraphrase an African proverb, a man who has no wife cannot lose an inlaw to the cold hands of death.

”The administration is also strongly committed to the tenets of democracy, including freedom of speech and the right to dissent. But we understand that those who, in their time, were untethered to those principles would find it hard to believe,” Alhaji Mohammed said.

The Minister said it was curious that the frame-up and witch-hunt allegations came a day after a major presidential proclamation reversing some past acts of injustice was made, to the relief and acclamation of a long-expectant nation.

”Apparently, the impact of this proclamation was too much to bear by those who, through acts of omission or commission, helped to deepen the wounds inflicted by the blow of injustice that followed an election that was widely acclaimed to be free, fair and credible, hence they felt the need for a red herring that will distract the nation.

”Added to that is the frustration brought about by the fact that the contraption they have so much hyped as a freeway to power has failed to gain traction. Faced with this double tragedy, even the strongest of men may begin to succumb to a figment of their imagination. They may start crying wolf where there is none,” he said.

Alhaji Mohammed said the unprecedented achievements of the Buhari Administration are also enough to cause sleepless nights, with the attendant symptoms that include phantasm, for those who had better opportunities to make the country great but floundered on the altar of narcissism.

It takes greatness to identify greatness in others, AYM; the one and only grassroot politician in Remoland has done the usual thing today when he visited Remo Secondary School (RSS).

He was seen inside the school bus amidst of the students, he encouraged them all to be more focused on their studies and urged them to shun every form of immoral act that could jeopardised their futures.

AYM says and I quote "I feel so much delighted and fulfilled any moment am in the midst of the younger generations" They are my people and being with them brings back old time memories" Once upon a time, I was like them.

All the students were so happy seeing AYM in their midst, they were all echoing #MafeLafe#. May I quickly remind us that one of AYM's project was the free bus scheme, #MafeLafeBus# used in conveying students in Remo federal constituency. Hardly would you see a student in Remo that wouldn't know the so called #MafeLafeBus#

AYM was also spotted along Ikenne road, Akesan road and within Sagamu driving the #MafeLageBus, conveyed the students of RSS, Mayflower, Remo Divisional high school, Methodist com. College etc. And he dropped them at their various destination.

Ladoja failed to return ‘stolen’ funds, says EFCC

The Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday heard that a former Oyo State Governor Rashidi Ladoja allegedly did not return his share of the funds he received from sale of the state’s shares.

Ladoja is on trial for allegedly converting N4.7 billion from the state treasury to his personal use.

But he denied the allegation.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) charged him with Waheed Akanbi, his commissioner for Finance, for alleged graft.

An EFCC investigator, Abubakar Madaki, who testified, averred that the former governor gave instructions in 2007 that the shares, worth N6.6 billion, be sold at discounted rates without the Executive Council’s (Exco’s) resolution.

The witness said the money allegedly went to Ladoja, his family and friends.

According to the investigator, Ladoja engaged Fountain Securities as a portfolio manager to sell the shares at a discounted rate.

The shares were acquired by McLace Securities.

“In the course of our investigation, about N500 million was recovered from McLace Security, Fountain Securities and other stockbrokers,” Madaki said.

According to him, Ladoja promised to return his share of the money, but never did.

“The EFCC recovered over N500 million and some vehicles. All the recoveries were remitted to the Oyo State government, except the money and vehicle that Ladoja got, which he claimed he would return, but never did,” Madaki said.

The witness said money recovered “was the balance that was supposed to be paid to the state government but was shared”.

Madaki said the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) launched an investigation into how Oyo State shares were sold.

The witness said EFCC also discovered that a residential apartment, called Quarter 361, was purchased by Ladoja’s former Executive Assistant Adewale Atanda on the former governor’s behalf with proceeds of shares from Heritage Apartments, the state’s broker.

To verify that the property was acquired with the shares’ proceed, Madaki said EFCC requested the payment details and discovered that a cheque was written by Heritage Apartments.

The witness said Atanda bought 14 cars for lawmakers as well as for Ladoja and his wife, using loan obtained from Wema Bank Plc.

He added: “They used the shares’ proceeds to offset the loan they took from Wema Bank. The accused benefited from the vehicle. The wife also benefited.”

The witness said investigations were extended to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to unravel the identity of another company, Bistrum Investment Limited, also used in the transfer of Oyo State funds.

He said although the first accused denied knowledge of Bistrum, he admitted knowing one its directors, who he said was his cousin.

Madaki said further investigations confirmed that Atanda’s account in Lagoon Homes, which also received part of proceeds from stock brokers, was issued a bank draft of N70 million.

The EFCC accused Ladoja and Akanbi of converting Oyo State’s N1,932,940,032.48 to their personal use through the Guaranty Trust Bank account of a company, Heritage Apartments Limited.

The prosecution said the former governor removed £600,000 (about N240,219,945) from the state’s coffers in 2007 and sent it to Bimpe Ladoja in London, United Kingdom (UK).

Ladoja also allegedly bought an armoured Land Cruiser Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with N42 million for himself, using public funds.

The EFCC investigator accused the former governor of converting N728,600,000 and another N77,850,000 in 2007.

He was said to have also transferred N77,850,000 to Bistrum Investments, which he allegedly nominated to help him buy a property, Quarter 361, in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

The alleged offence contravenes sections 17(a) and18 (1) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004, punishable under sections 14 (1), 16 (a) (b) and 18 (2).

Ladoja and Akanbi pleaded not guilty.

The trial continues today.

Former finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has revealed the blackmail and arm twisting that characterised budget passing by the National Assembly during the Goodluck Jonathan Administration.

Okonjo-IwealaShe cited an instance in 2015 when the National Assembly leadership forced the executive arm to part with N17 billion for the federal lawmakers to pass that year’s budget.

That, she said, was at a time crude price had gone down drastically.

The N17 billion alleged bribe, according to Okonjo-Iweala in her book Fighting Corruption is Dangerous:The Story Behind the Headlines, was besides the NASS N150 billion annual ‘standard’ budget.

She described federal legislators as a tough political group to deal with.

Her words: “The legislature was concerned largely about three things—the size of its own budget; the nature and the size of the capital budget, particularly investment projects; and the number and geographical location of the projects.

“Senators and Representatives felt that their role as appropriators of the budget was not just to vet and approve budget parameters and oversee budget implementation, but also to shape the size and content of the budgets, including details of specific projects.”

She said members of the NASS Finance and Appropriation even felt ”they had the right–indeed the duty–to get into the details of the budget formulation and preparation process all along the budget value chain.”

The ex-minister said the NASS leadership, working through the various committees, “sought to add more to individual projects or create completely new, unappropriated major projects, thereby distorting the budget.”

But she explained that “not all National Assembly members supported these unfortunate manipulations of the budget.”

She added: “National Assembly members had negotiated large increases in the National Assembly budgets and would brook no discussions or challenges on the issue.

“Their operational budget had ballooned to N150 billion or 16 per cent of the budget and almost 3.5 times the 2006 budget (in naira).”

Okonjo-Iweala said when it was proposed that the lawmakers should give up some of their benefits in view of dwindling revenue in 2015, they bluntly refused to do so.

“By the time we presented the budget on December 16, 2014, oil prices had fallen further to $58 per barrel.

“We were prepared and we knew we had to trigger the additional expenditure and revenue measures in 2015 to make the budget work.

“This would be tough, given that we had entered an election year,” she said.

 ”Indeed, legislators initially refused to accept any cuts to their regular N150 billion budget, despite dwindling revenues.

“But eventually, they agreed to a 13 per cent cut against a backdrop of ministers accepting a voluntary 50 per cent cut to their basic salaries.

“In a tough session with the National Assembly’s ad hoc committee on the budget (made up of chairs of the Finance Committee and Appropriation Committee of both chambers and other leaders of the National Assembly), an additional N20 billion was re-introduced as election expenses for National Assembly members.

“We insisted the amount be dropped because it nullified the 13 per cent cut made to their statutory budget, but managed to reduce the N20 billion figure by only N3 billion to N17 billion.

“This became the price to pay to have the 2015 budget passed.”

Okonjo-Iweala was Jonathan’s finance minister from August 17, 2011 to May 29, 2015.

She had served in the same capacity in the Obasanjo government.

The Federal Government proposed to spend N4.454 trillion that year.

FG begins repair of Lagos-Abeokuta road

The Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing on Monday inaugurated the rehabilitation of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, with an inspection tour of the road.

The Director, Federal Highways, South-West, Mr. Olalekan Busari, said the road had been neglected by previous administrations before it was re-awarded to Julius Berger for construction this month.

According to him, the project is divided into two sections, the first of which starts from Ile Zik in Lagos, spanning about 20 kilometres, while the second section falls in Ogun State and covers 60km.

Busari said the project had suffered several setbacks in the past but that the current administration was resuscitating it as part of its mandate to deliver infrastructure development to Nigerians.

He stated, “It is a complete total rehabilitation of the entire road this time around, and it is awarded at N22.387bn and the contract period is for two and half years, and we hope the contractor will actually deliver.

“Julius Berger has the capacity and the Federal Government is very determined to properly fund this road project so as to deliver it on time. The first section was to rehabilitate the Ota-Abeokuta section, which was awarded to Julius Berger in 2009 at the sum of N11.6bn. However, due to lack of funding, the project dragged on until 2010 that it was completed at a contract price of N14.6bn.”

Busari added, “Addendum 2 was awarded in 2006, consisting of the rehabilitation of the construction of the flyover at Ota and the construction of the roundabout, as well as the strengthening of the Lagos-Ota road at a sum of N9.6bn that time. The contract was eventually partially completed in 2010. In 2011, Section 3, Phase 3 was awarded at a contract sum of N10.6bn.

“The scope of work was to complete the work on the section on phase two, which is the construction of the flyover, as well as construction of the crash barriers and the strengthening of the Lagos road. It was awarded in 2011 at a contract sum of N10.6bn due to delay in the execution of the project and lack of funding by the previous administration. The job started and was stopped again in 2012 basically due to lack of funding and lack of priority.”

Busari explained that the road was important to the socio-economic development of the South-West and the entire nation, as well as it being the link to the Republic of Benin.

The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mr. Adedamola Kuti; and the Federal Controller, Works, Ogun, Mr. Olukayode Popoola, both said they had put measures in place for traffic management and diversions so as to reduce the hardship of road users

Julius Berger’s West Division Manager, Mr. Wolfgang Loesser, stated that the firm was first carrying out repairs of bad portions of the highway to ease gridlock before the major rehabilitation work.

2AAU Female Graduates Who Accused Lecturer Of Sex For Grade Jailed

The celebrated sex-for-grade scandal that rocked Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, eight years ago, involving Engr. Peter Otubu, a lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics of the institution and Miss Juliet Ivie Okosun has climaxed in the conviction of two siblings, Miss Judith Ivie Okosun and Juliet Obehi Okosun.

Chief Magistrate Martina Iluobe of Ekpoma Chief Magistrate Court, Esan West Local Government Area, last weekend sentenced the two former students who had since graduated from the institution to two years imprisonment, for unlawful detention and indecent assault of Dr. Otubu.

Delivering judgement in the case marked MEK/18C/2012, Iluobe recalled that Juliet Obehi Okosun (second accused person) had admitted in her evidence before the court that she had the key to the apartment where the first accused person, Judith Ivie Okosun, unlawfully assaulted Dr. Otubu.

The lecturer was held hostage and stripped naked at their one-room apartment in a private female hostel near the university on 17 July 2010.

The accused persons were also said to have made Dr. Otubu to issue a cheque in the sum of N100,000 in favour of Judith Ivie Okosun.

The court specifically established that in the recorded video clips which was also posted in the internet by one Oziengbe, now at large, the second accused person had told court that she was in possession of the key to the apartment where Engr. Otubu was held, making her liable for the unlawful detention of the lecturer.

Chief Magistrate Iluobe, however, discharged and acquitted the accused persons who were both undergraduate students at AAU at the time they were charged to court on counts 1, 5, and 6 which bothered on conspiracy and stealing and frivolous petition against Engr. Otubu, following the failure of the prosecution to prove these beyond reasonable doubt.

It also discharged and acquitted the 3rd to 7th accused persons, Esther Ogbeide (21), Samson Ogbeide (32), Igbudu Samuel (42), Ojeabulu Eghosa Clement (37) and Aruya Ohis Williams (24) for lack of substantial evidence against them.

According to the court, the failure of Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), to provide calls log of conversations between the first Principal Witness (Engr. Iluobe) and some of the accused persons as required by the prosecution to prove his case was fatal to the prosecution.

Chief Magistrate Iluobe tongue-lashed Engr. Otubu, saying he “suffered for the sin of immorality to have gone to the room of her student which resulted in the show of shame, humiliation and torture which left his career in ruins.

“This court is of the view that there is a very strong conspiracy and set up against Engr. Peter Otubu, even though the defense Counsel had submitted before the court that suspicion does not amount to conspiracy.

”Throughout the length and breadth of the case, there is a thread which runs through criminal procedure of the case against the accused persons.

“Therefore, I hold that count 1 has not been proved as required by the law. For count 2, the the first and second accused persons had testified that the allegations were communicated to the school authorities about the show of shame.

“I believe them in this, because judging from the position of the the Principal Witness (PW1) and the first accused person, the whole truth was found and doctored. Such situation is highly embarrassing to him as a lecturer, his family and the university community.”

Responding to the judgment, counsel to the defendants, Mr. Olayowola Afolabi, agreed with the judgement on the sexual promiscuity of PW1, describing it as “a show of shame.”

But he pleaded with the court for clemency for the convicted persons on the ground that they were first offenders, stressing that the second convict is a nursing mother.

“The first accused person, my lord, is about to get married. I had to plead with the husband to allow her to come to court.

“My lord, the first and second accused persons were first offenders. My lord also has the option to caution the convicts in view of the circumstances. My lord is a woman who knows where the shoe is pinching us.

“So, my lord, I am pleading. Literally, my lord, I am on my knees. It is a show of shame for the lecturer to come to the house of his student”.

Following the pleading from the counsel to the defendants, Chief Magistrate Iluobe handed down an option of fine to the first and second accused persons in lieu of imprisonment.

Engr. Otubu who was highly elated, said the judgement has vindicated him.

“I am okay. The principal suspect, Ivie Okosun and her sister, Juliet Obehi Okosun, have been convicted and jailed, whether they were given an option of fine or not.

“To correct the erroneous impression that I was dismissed, I was never dismissed from AAU. My appointment was terminated following the video that was posted on the Internet,” he said.

BREAKING: Zimbabwe’s former leader Robert Mugabe dies in South

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – Former Zimbabwean long serving president Robert Mugabe died today in Johannesburg, South Africa, according to a statement from his family. The cause of death was not given.

A statement from Mugabe’s wife, Grace Mugabe, said: “My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Robert Gabriel Mugabe, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather has passed away at 94 years of age. His life was filled with love of God, his family and his country.”

Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao, who is believed to be in exile in South Africa issued a statement saying that he and his wife Beauty Zhuwao were “greatly saddened” to hear of the former president’s death.

“Ex-president Mugabe was a great Zimbabwean who gave many years of dedicated service to our country,” Mr Zhuwao said.

“The Zimbabwean people will always admire Robert Mugabe’s devotion to duty, his personal character, and the honorable conduct of his administration. We mourn the loss of such a leader, and our longest serving president will always have a special place in our Nation’s memory, May your soul rest in peace and may you fight back our enemies whilst you join the ancestral world peacefully!”- he concluded.

Robert Gabriel Mugabe, 94, was the longest serving President of Zimbabwe, serving from 1987-2017.

As one of the leaders of the rebel groups in opposition to white minority rule, he was elected Prime Minister in 1980, serving in that office as head of the government, until 1987, when he became the country’s first executive head of state.

He had led the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) since 1975.

As of August 2017, he was the world’s oldest and one of the longest serving Head of State.

His 36-year rule has been characterised by gross human rights violations, resulting in him joining the world list of dictators.

Mugabe rose to prominence in the 1960s as the leader of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) during the conflict against the conservative white-minority government of Rhodesia.

PDP’S APOLOGY: GIVE US A BREAK PLEASE!


The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Uche Secondus, recently apologized to Nigerians for mistakes made by the party while in power.

The Central Think-Tank (CTT) of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) met immediately after the monthly general meeting held at the weekend and PDP’s apology was among the issues discussed. CTT critically X-rayed the apology and unanimously rejected it. It found the apology half-hearted, deceitful and misplaced.

It is half-hearted because it is not comprehensive. Secondus said he apologized to Nigerians for “impunity, the imposition of candidates and other mistakes made in the past.” Just like that? Nothing was mentioned about the humongous amounts of money stolen by the PDP and whether or not the stolen funds will be returned. Nothing was said about widespread corruption during PDP’s reign. There was no mention of infrastructural negligence. Does Secondus expect Nigerians to swallow that dry apology hook, line and sinker? No, the tides have turned. Nigerians are now wiser.

Who is the PDP trying to deceive? For the avoidance of doubt, Nigerians did not sack PDP because its governors could not agree among themselves. Nigerians sent PDP packing because of its kleptomania and its flair for sharing money meant for building roads, electricity, education, etc, among its leaders. Before PDP can think of coming back, the party must tell us that it has agreed that stealing is corruption. Not only that, it must offer unreserved apology to the Nigerian hoi polloi for making that sweeping and misleading statement.  Until they change that erroneous ideology, we will not touch PDP with a long pole.

PDP’s apology is deceitful because even its megaphones do not believe that any apology should be offered. They are still arrogant and unrepentant. Femi Fani-Kayode, a PDP chieftain and firebrand megaphone lambasted Uche Secondus for apologizing. Femi Fani-Kayode’s body language, coupled with Fayose’s hateful comportment and utterances since PDP fell from grace to grass are indubitable evidence of lack of remorse and unmitigated impunity. He who must come to equity must come with clean hands. PDP must be kept at bay.

How can PDP’s megaphones still have the temerity to bark at Nigerians after the party’s colossal vandalisation of our common patrimony? Nigeria remained underdeveloped for the 16 years of PDP’s misrule. Electricity was epileptic. The education sector was comatose. PDP over-pampered lawmakers and allowed them to allocate scandalous amounts to themselves. It is now difficult to tame them. 


PDP is responsible for our plight today. The average Nigerian still lives on less than $2 per day. Per capita income is less than $300. Nigerian roads are the best for suicide drivers. Our hospitals are only suitable for getting rid of business rivals, unwanted relations and confirmed enemies. Young and talented Nigerians seek greener pasture abroad and the unfortunate ones end up as slaves and prostitutes in foreign lands. More than 80% Nigerians live under poverty level. 11 million Nigerians are malnourished. Worse still, only 1% of the Nigerian population has arrogated 85% of the commonwealth to themselves leaving only 15% to the remaining vast majority of 99%. As a result, the life span of the average Nigerian which was 70 years before independence is now 47.


The thieves are now confessing. Let us have more confessions. Even those who vehemently denied stealing are begging for bargaining. Election riggers are admitting their atrocities a la Mantu. They are begging Nigerians for forgiveness but they are unwilling to return stolen funds. Yet they want to control our destiny come 2019. They told us stealing is not corruption so they want to come back to steal. Are we so gullible? Why is it so easy to manipulate us? Napoleon said men are ruled by toys but here Nigerians are being ruled by nothingness. They are being ruled by emptiness, hunger, starvation, disease and sheer mirage. Who did this to Nigeria?

MURIC’s CTT also noted that PDP’s apology was misplaced. If PDP thinks it can maradonise Nigerians with a deceitful apology, the party must be told that there are Nigerians who are capable of analyzing every statement, every phrase and every word uttered by the party. The apology ostensibly offered to Nigerians was actually meant for governors and other influential chieftains who decamped from the PDP. It was not meant for poor people like us. It was not for the electorate, but for big politicians whom they have always used to deceive the electorate.

This fact became glaring from the speech of Chief Bode George at the same occasion where the ‘apology’ was offered. He said PDP was apologizing to party stalwarts who left the party “to return from the wilderness”. It is therefore clear that PDP did not really apologise to Nigerians, rather it apologized to its former chieftains. T o the PDP, traumatized and dehumanized masses deserve no apology.

Without being partisan, it is only fair to give all parties equal chances. PDP had a field day and that party cannot deny it. We gave PDP 16 good years but like the proverbial prodigal son, it wasted our resources. Objectivity demands that now that another party is in power and that ruling party has embarked on various construction projects, we should allow the party to prove its mettle.

Allow the projects of the ruling party to mature. Then we can compare and contrast. If it is true that PDP was in power for 16 good years, it stands to reason that we cannot fully assess the ruling party, in just four years. The All Progressives Congress (APC) needs at least another four years for its projects to mature and for Nigerians to fully assess it. Corruption is a highly contagious disease. PDP should just remain in quarantine.

As we round up, we urge PDP to give us a break. What the party should do if it really means well for this country is to offer a holistic apology, admit its wrongs (including massive and unprecedented corruption) return stolen funds, announce a moratorium of at least four more years before thinking of returning to power and identify a credible presidential candidate, possibly for 2027. In the interregnum, PDP can plan ahead for a corruption-free Nigerian environment in future. 2019 is not on the table.

Many great word-works have been done to eulogise the personality of the man that rose to the peak of his calling on self-belief, sagacity, decorum, vision and divinely mobilised force beyond human comprehension. I mean God is involved with MafeLafe like my popular slogan.

No more beautiful words can be used to paint a man that has been described as “a peacemaker, courageous, friendly, and fearless political general, patriot, motivator, strategic thinker, risk taker, humanist, visionary leader, crowd puller, a crusader for change, justice, good governance and development, and a great apostle of power. He was also described as a man that is “always exuding charisma, carriage, dignity and honour, an indomitable leader, a man endowed with sheer organisational ability, mobilisation prowess, uncommon acumen, masterful logic, foresight, and the most colourful politician in Remoland”.

Abraham Lincoln said and I quote "Leadership is practiced in attitude and action rather than words" and that is what AYM stands for. Among several gifts in political philosophy, Mafe is master of the art of timing as described by some political leaders. AYM is great in much ratification. If leadership is truly about unlocking people’s potential to become better, no living political leader in Remo is near Mafe’s achievements talking about organised followership and leadership breed.

Mafe takes a step further in his leadership style that demolished the barrier wall and built access and smooth relationship between him and those who follow him on one hand and between him and the common man on the other hand, no individual of whatever low class is barred from accessing Mafe’s political empire and he's indeed approachable, a leader with a listening hears. Like every great leader, AYM rode on all odds and stumbling blocks set against him to greatness. He is a tested leader who has surpassed most difficult challenges in this era. He has fought several battles and won.

Mafe's mentoring acumen reflects wisdom with every word he uttered. He discusses issues without struggling to make himself heard, he proffers solutions without labouring for it, he consults, he engages in opinions, he delegates and demands outcome of resolutions promptly, he makes comic relief promptly when atmosphere is tensed, and finally, he takes decisions to show true leadership!

Beyond what many people knew, Mafe has unbridled passion for Remo’s greatness and emancipation.

This man indeed and in truth needs our total support in Remoland. I therefore beseech everyone to rally round AYM from now till 2019 general elections.

Former FC Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o arrested after girlfriend plunges to her death during balcony sex

Former Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o has been arrested on suspicion of ‘negligence causing others to die’ after his girlfriend fell over a balcony to her death in Lagos, Nigeria.

Samuel Eto’o, 37, was arrested at one of the state’s top luxury hotels, ‘The Wheatbaker Hotel’, along Lawrence Rd, Ikoyi, Lagos, following the horrific death of Nneka Claudia, 26.

She fell to her death after the pair were said to be having ‘strange and extravagant sex’ on the balcony of a 5th floor of the hotel apartment. She suffered severe head injuries and multiple fractures when she plunged naked to the floor below.

A half-used packet of Viagra gel was discovered nearby, it is reported. She was found by the building’s security guard Peter Obina, 25, who said he heard a ‘loud crash’.

He then walked over and saw Nneka lying in a pool of blood before he called for help. Paramedics arrived and performed CPR on Nneka – who was still alive – but she was later pronounced dead in hospital. Nneka, also known by her nickname Joy, was working as a bank teller at Ecobank, Lagos-Ikeja branch.

OAU Commences Investigation Of Sex-For-Mark Scandal.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State has set up a committee to investigate the sex-for-mark scandal allegedly involving a lecturer of the institution.

The scandal became viral when an audio-recording of a phone conversation recently surfaced on social media. The recording had the voice of the lecturer identified as Professor Akindele, whose name was mentioned by the student, sexually harassing a female student.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, in a statement on Wednesday said the university has begun the process of identifying the person involved by setting up a committee.

“The recording suggests that the lecturer was demanding sex in return for grade which clearly amounts to sexually harassing the lady.

“Since the matter came to our notice, the University has begun the process of identifying the characters involves in this apparent breach of its regulations, the Code of Conduct for the University Community and the Anti-sexual Harassment policy, in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and procedures of the University.

“To this end, the University has set up a high-powered committee to investigate the allegation and submit its report within one week,” the statement read in part.

Professor Ogunbodede in the statement vowed that the culprits of the scandal, when found, will face the wrath of the law.

“Anyone found culpable will be dealt with decisively. It is totally and morally reprehensible, and the University will never condone such act by any staff or student.

“Once again, I wish to reiterate that no one found culpable of this serious misconduct of sexual harassment will go unpunished,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor said the institution has zero tolerance for sexual harassment and considers sexual harassment as a serious offence contrary to its Code of Conduct for the University Community and the Anti-sexual Harassment policy.

Drama, as Ogun Distributes Basic Medical Equipments to Health Centers

There was a season of dramatic smiles and laughter on the faces of health practitioners in Ogun State as they received lorries of health equipments handed over to them by the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Mrs Yetunde Onanuga.

Before the presentation and handing over of the equipments at the save one million lives scheme by the ministry of health, Mrs Onanuga alluded the success recorded so far in the health sector of the State to the various policies of the Government geared towards qualitative health care delivery as encapsulated in the five cardinal agenda of the Ibikunle Amosun led Administration.

She said the Araya health insurance scheme is presently catering for over 16000 mothers and infants below the age of five. She highlighted other achievements to include renovation and equipping of state cold rooms for vaccines, renovation of health centers, maternal newborn week among others assuring that 3.3million insecticide nets will be distributed to the residents of Ogun State in few weeks to come.

Onanuga however charged the health workers to live up to their duties, utilize and maintain the equipments. She enjoined the people of the state to continue to support the State by paying their taxes while appreciating the federal government and the partnering organizations.

Earlier in his speech, Dr Babatunde Ipaye, the Commissioner for Health said primary healthcare is a cornerstone of the health services, hence the focus on it.

He noted that it is expedient that all medical care must be met under a roof with the use of best facilities, targeting the most vulnerable, rural dwellers and the disadvantaged.

He commented that the State is achieving a higher rate of medical statistics above the apex statistics laid down by the federal government in all ramifications, charging the health workers to double their effort in order to surpass the present achievements.

“We must make sure the equipments are well sterilized and utilized, a normal delivery will save thousands of lives, an umpteenth-time blood pressure measurement will save many moving corpses. The equipments might look small in sizes but they are mighty with quality”.

He submitted that the three ambulances will be situated in each of the Senatorial districts for rapid response while other equipments will be distributed to health centers according to needs.

In their separate address, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr Nafiu Aigoro and the Chairman, Forum of Medical Officers, Dr Solarin opined that the distribution of the equipments is unprecedented in primary health Care, they said most health workers never knew they will be going home with lorries of equipments, appreciating the Government for living up to her words. They said with the equipments, over a million lives will be saved.

Speaking on behalf of the Local Government and LCDA Chairmen, Hon Asalulola express the delight of the councils, he said the equipments will reassure the people of the various local governments and LCDAs of Governments commitment to qualitative Health care delivery.
